How quickly does it start working?
Fipronil begins killing fleas within hours of application. You may notice fleas rising to the top of the coat as they die, which is a sign it is working rather than a sign of a new infestation.
Do I need to know my cat's exact weight?
No. Frontline Plus for Cats comes in a single strength for all cats over 1.5 lbs, so there is no size chart to work out.
Is it safe for kittens, or a pregnant or nursing cat?
Yes. It is approved from 8 weeks old and 1.5 lbs, and it is safe for breeding, pregnant and lactating queens.
Can I use my dog's Frontline on my cat?
Never. The dosages differ and dog formulations can be dangerous to cats. Only use the product labelled for cats.
Can my cat get wet after treatment?
Yes, once it is dry. It is waterproof after 24 hours and stays effective after bathing, water immersion or sun exposure.
My cat licked the application site. What now?
Applying between the shoulder blades makes this unlikely, but if it happens you may see brief drooling or a bad taste reaction. It typically passes quickly. Contact your vet if symptoms persist.
Does it need to be reapplied every month?
Yes. Monthly application is the recommended schedule for continuous flea, tick and chewing lice control, particularly where there is a high reinfestation risk or flea allergy dermatitis.
Do I need a prescription?
No. It is available over the counter.

How to applyFive steps. About a minute.
- Open the applicator. Lift and remove the plastic tab, peel back the foil, hold upright with the foil side facing you and snap the tip.
- Find the spot. Part the hair between the shoulder blades until you can see skin — somewhere they can't turn around and lick.
- Apply. Place the tip just above the skin and squeeze the entire contents into a single spot. On skin, not on top of the coat.
- Let it dry. Avoid touching the treated area until it's fully dry. Waterproof from 24 hours.
- Repeat every 30 days. For continuous, year-round protection. Set a monthly reminder on the same date.
